This book discusses the implications for education of Marx's major theories and compares both the theory and practice of education in post-revolutionary Russia and China. It argues that a marxist education would have as its main concern the development of self-concious,self-determining individuals within a cooperative community, so different from the merotocratic conception which informs much of Soviet and Chinese educational thinking.
