This personal memoir chronicles the experiences of twenty-one year old James R Jump who gave up his job as a journalist and went to Spain to fight Franco's facists in the Spanish Civil War of 1936-39. The author's accompanying poems reflect the intense emotions sparked by his experience-anger,comradeships, fear and grief-as well as his growing love of Spain and  alament for the passing of a generation who fought alongside him.
